Leadership Forum

On August 5, 2008 AFN convened roundtable titled Partners for Affordable Energy on the changing national and local economies due to high energy costs and impacts on Native communities. As part of AFN's ongoing efforts to address our communities' changing energy needs, the roundtable was orgnanized to provide an opportunity to discuss perceptions and realities of the energy crisis, actions which can be taken by government and the private sector, and the range of partnerships that might turn a crisis into an opportunity for the future. This forum was not for pessimists or cynics. It was an opportunity for a dialogue on what can be done now, and how we can move forward in an atmosphere of trust and optimism - a place to share big ideas and concrete steps which could involve us all.

In cooperation with:
National Congress of American Indians
State of Hawaii, Office of Hawaiian Affairs
Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement
and others

Featured participants included Senior Senator Ted Stevens, Senior Senator Daniel K. Inouye & Governor Sarah Palin.
