Remember Sunday, July 20 is the last day to register to vote for the 2014 primary election

Every vote countsSunday is the deadline to register to vote, update your voter information, or change party affiliation in time for next month’s primary election on August 19.

You can register or update your voter information in person at Division of Elections regional offices, in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Nome and Wasilla.  Regional offices will be open this weekend on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday noon to 4 p.m.  The Division of Elections will also accept voter registration applications submitted by mail, fax, or email.  You can access the necessary forms online at http://www.elections.alaska.gov/vi_vr_how.php.

AFN encourages each Alaskan to exercise his or her right to vote.  Regardless of your individual party affiliation and opinion on issues and candidates, voting has a powerful impact on the direction of public policy and issues that affect our different communities.

To request an absentee ballot by mail, complete the Absentee Ballot Application at http://www.elections.alaska.gov/ot.php. You can also vote early and cast your absentee ballot 15 days ahead of the primary in 128 villages.  For a complete list of locations please click here.

“We call on all Alaskans to exercise their right to vote, with a special call to fellow rural Alaskans to take advantage of this new opportunity available to them in their villages.   Let’s make voter turnout something to be proud of in our state!  Please register and go vote!” – AFN Co-Chair Ana Hoffman.
