AFN Joins the Governor for Signing Ceremony of House Bill 200 Protecting Alaska’s Foster Children

 

“Tsinaen, Qagassakung, thank you Governor Bill Walker for understanding and advocating for the preservation of our Alaska Native families,” AFN Co-Chair Ana Hoffman said at the ceremony, “and knowing that through this law, all of our nieces and nephews, cousins and grandchildren will have a stronger future in Alaska.”

“Leadership has brought us here today,” Hoffman added. “Foremost I want to recognize our Commissioner at the Department of Health and Human Services Valerie Nurr’araaluk Davidson.  And thank you to the Director of the Office of Children’s Services Christy Lawton, and the Executive Director of Alaska Legal Services Corporation, Nikole Nelson, Anabasse, Gunalcheesh, Taikuu for your steadfast duty and service to Alaska’s children and families.”
